President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has constituted the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the January 2027 elections, appointing former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, as Director-General of the campaign.
The campaign council, according to a statement issued by the State House on Saturday, brings together senior party leaders, governors, legislators and experienced political operators who will oversee various aspects of the campaign organisation.
President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will serve as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the campaign council, while APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will also serve as Vice Chairman. Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has been appointed Secretary of the council.
Among the key appointments is James Abiodun Faleke, who returns to the campaign structure as Deputy Director-General in charge of Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring, a role that places him at the centre of the campaign’s electoral strategy.
Faleke will work with zonal directors across the six geopolitical zones, including Senator Olushola Adeyeye in the South West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme in the South South, Senator Uche Ekwunife in the South East, Muntaqha Rabe in the North West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso in the North Central and Senator Sani Danladi in the North East.
Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat, PhD, has been appointed as one of the three Secretaries of the Election Planning Directorate, alongside Ms Stella Okotete and Audu Maikori. The appointment places Ramat within the core team responsible for supporting the planning, coordination and monitoring of the campaign’s electoral activities across the country.
Ramat’s role comes under the Election Planning Directorate headed by Faleke, with the directorate expected to coordinate electoral preparations and work closely with its zonal structures as the campaign moves towards the 2027 presidential election.
The campaign structure also includes several other major directorates. Senator Adams Oshiomhole will serve as Deputy Director-General for Mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will oversee Administration as Deputy Director-General.
A dedicated legal directorate will be headed by Muiz Adeyemi Banire, while the media and strategic communication team will be coordinated by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, working alongside senior communication professionals including Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.
The campaign has also named five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake, with Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda serving alongside him.
President Tinubu has charged members of the campaign council to work towards securing victory for the APC in the January 2027 elections, while urging leaders of the various directorates to bring on board other party members who can contribute to the campaign’s success.
With Senator Yari providing overall leadership and Faleke heading the critical Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring Directorate, the appointment of Ramat as one of its secretaries places him within a key operational arm of the presidential campaign as the APC begins preparations for the 2027 election.
