According to her, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development remains steadfast in its mandate to promote the welfare, protection, empowerment, and advancement of women, children, families, and other vulnerable groups across Nigeria, adding that every intervention the Ministry undertook was guided by unwavering belief that every girl deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, realize her full potential, and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Speaking further She said this intervention is a clear demonstration of the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, whose administration has consistently prioritized human capital development as a cornerstone of national progress.

The Ministér noted that true empowerment goes beyond providing temporary support, but creating lasting opportunities that enable individuals to become self-sufficient, productive, and confident contributors to society.

On that note the Minister said ” It is therefore with immense pride that we celebrated 12 rescued Chibok girls who successfully graduated from the American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, on 9th May, 2026.
“We are equally encouraged that 21 young women currently pursuing their university education at the same University and are expected to graduate in 2027. Their continued academic progress reinforces our confidence that this investment in education is yielding meaningful and lasting results.

Further more, 33 girls will today be matriculated into the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme

“Today’s ceremony is therefore not simply about presenting certificates, it is about restoring dignity, rebuilding confidence, and creating opportunities that will endure for generations. As part of today’s empowerment, the graduating beneficiaries will receive starter packs and other support designed to help them transition successfully into productive and independent lives.

We also recognize that their families have remained a vital source of strength throughout this journey. In appreciation of their unwavering support and sacrifices, the parents of these young women will receive welfare support packages to further strengthen their households and complement the progress their daughters have made. This holistic approach reflects our understanding that sustainable recovery is best achieved when both beneficiaries and their families are empowered.

The Ministér expressed appreciation of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to all especially Stakeholders (Office of the Vice President, Federal Ministry of Education, Office of the National Security Adviser, Victims Support Fund- VSF , Borno State Ministry of Women Affairs & Social Development, Adamawa State Ministry of Women Affairs & Social Development, Borno State Ministry of Education, Adamawa State Ministry of Education), Member Borno State House of Assembly representing Chibok, Chairman Chibok LGA, Partners (International Committee of the Red Cross- ICRC, UNWomen, UNFPA, Modibbo Adama University, AUN), Chairman Abducted Chibok Girls Parent Forum, Parents of the Survivors, and every individual who has contributed to the success of this intervention. The knowledge you have acquired, the skills you have developed, and the resilience you have demonstrated will continue to open doors of opportunities. We encourage you to remain focused, courageous, hardworking, and committed to excellence. You are ambassadors of hope, symbols of resilience, and living proof that adversity can be overcome.

As a Ministry, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to delivering our mandate of protecting, empowering, and advancing the interests of women, children, families, and vulnerable persons across Nigeria. We will continue to pursue policies and programmes that expand access to education, skills development, economic opportunities, and social protection, ensuring that every Nigerian woman and child has the opportunity to thrive.

Together, under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, we will continue to build a nation where every girl can dream without fear, learn without barriers, and achieve her fullest potential.

When I look at you, I do not see victims. I see survivors. I see entrepreneurs. I see mothers, leaders, professionals, and women whose stories are still being written. I see hope”, She said.
