VOTE FOR THE ICC WOMEN’S OF THE MONTH FOR OCTOBER 2024

Melie Kerr (New Zealand)

The 24-year-old all-rounder was the star player in New Zealand’s maiden T20 World Cup victory as she finished as the player of the tournament.

Kerr amassed a total of 135 runs off her six appearances, and clinched 15 wickets, setting a tournament record of most wickets in a single edition. In the final against South Africa, she stitched together a crucial knock of 43 before claiming a 3-fer in a player of the match-winning display.

Her form extended to the New Zealand tour of India, where she snapped a four-wicket haul in her only appearance in the ODI series.

Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa)

The South Africa skipper carved out an inspirational run with the bat as the Proteas reached the T20 World Cup final for the second time in a row.

With 223 runs at an average of 44.60, Wolvaardt finished as the leading run scorer in the UAE. Coincidentally, she had also been the top-scorer when South Africa hosted the tournament in 2023 – finishing runner-ups.

The right-handed batter blazed an unbeaten 59 in the opener against the West Indies, which got the Proteas campaign rolling with a 10-wicket win.

Deandra Dottin (West Indies)

The swashbuckling batter made an impact with both bat and ball, as the West Indies made it into the semifinals of the tournament for the first time since 2018.

Piling 120 runs at a fiery strike rate of 162.16 – best in this edition – Dottin also notched five wickets across as many games.

In a must-win group stage fixture against England, the right-handed batter’s 19-ball-27 shouldered the Windies across the line. Her standout performance though, came against New Zealand in the semi-finals when Dottin snapped four wickets and almost took her team into the final with a power-packed 33-run innings, which saw her blast three sixes in an over.
