The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, MON, today held a meeting with the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) delegation, led by Major General Garrick M. Harmon, Director of Strategy, Plans, and Programs in his office at the ministry of Defence, Ship House, Abuja.
The meeting focused on issues related to counterinsurgency operations and regional stability. Key areas requiring strategic assistance from the United States were clearly outlined, with emphasis on sustaining pressure against insurgent and terrorist elements operating within Nigeria and the wider Africa.
HM Matawalle commended AFRICOM and reiterated the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s commitment to deepening military cooperation with the United States Armed Forces. He emphasized that the Nigeria–U.S. defence relationship remains a critical pillar of national security and regional peace efforts.
