At St. Matthew Catholic Church, INEC officials were seen departing for various polling units early Saturday morning.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have begun moving to their respective polling stations in Awka South Local Government Area ahead of today’s Anambra Governorship Election.
INEC ad hoc staff arrived at the Community Primary School, Amawbia, covering Wards 01 and 02 in Anambra South Local Government Area, at exactly 7:07 a.m.
Buses transporting voting materials were seen leaving the venue as staff began moving to their assigned locations.
According to INEC, 2,802,790 registered voters are expected to cast their ballots across 5,718 polling units in the state’s 21 local government areas.
The election will be held across three senatorial districts with sixteen candidates in the race.
Candidates vying for the top seat of the state include Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), George Moghalu of the Labour Party (LP), and Jude Ezenwafor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
INEC has assured residents of a peaceful and credible exercise across the state.
